Generating a trip requires a Trip Pass. This applies to every
generation, including the first trip you ever generate — there is no
free trip. A Trip Pass pays only for generating a trip; once
a trip has been generated, everything else you do with it — opening it,
reading a day, editing a stop, changing dates or preferences,
reordering, offline access, ordinary sync — costs nothing further.
Variare currently does not offer a subscription. If one is introduced
later, these terms will be updated first, before it is offered.
How a purchase is used. Starting a generation reserves
one Trip Pass from your balance. The pass is spent only if the
generation completes successfully. If a generation fails or is
cancelled, the reservation is released and nothing is spent — your
balance and your trip setup are unaffected, and you can retry without
being charged again. Retrying an already-reserved generation does not
reserve a second pass.
Trip Passes are sold as one-time (non-subscription) products through
the app store you use — Google Play on Android, the App Store on iOS —
in two sizes: a single Trip Pass, and a pack of three. All purchases
are made through that store under its own terms; the store handles
payment, receipts, price changes and refunds, and Variare never
receives your payment details. Prices are shown to you by the store, in
your local currency and inclusive of any taxes the store applies, at
the time of purchase, and may change for future purchases.
A purchase is credited to your account after the purchase is verified
with our backend (on iOS, through RevenueCat), so your balance follows
your account rather than your device — it is not transferable to
another account and it has no cash value. Refunds are requested from
the store and are handled under the store's own refund policies and the
consumer law of the country you live in; nothing in these terms reduces
that right. Where the store refunds a purchase (Google Play's "voided"
purchases, or an App Store refund), any unspent Trip Passes from that
purchase are withdrawn from your balance — your balance is never taken
below zero, and a Trip Pass already spent generating a trip is not
clawed back and that trip is not affected.
